The bold hairstyling choices of Brazil?s Copa America team

Since both of Sunday’s Copa America matches ended in scoreless draws and the rest of the tournament thus far has failed to immediately fulfill lofty expectations, much of the focus wandered to the audacious hairstyles that Brazil put on display in its match against Venezuela. And that may or may not have caused Dani Alves to bicycle kick Robinho.

Behold! One of the strongest cases for wackiest collection of hairstyles on a single football team in recent memory…

Robinho first started to cultivate this ‘do near the end of Milan’s Scudetto winning season. Now, it looks like a cross between Elvis and a Japanese anime character. I’m pretty sure it can cut through a tomato with ease.

Neymar’s highlighted fauxhawk is nothing new, but it does seem to be getting increasingly unruly. As his reputation grows, so does the fauxhawk. It’s almost like a physical representation of his ego at this point.

Though, David Luiz did not play in Brazil’s first match, his Sideshow Bob curls still command attention. Then again, on this team it seems downright reasonable.

Then, there’s Dani Alves. Perhaps desperate to stand out, Alves decided to go with a ‘hawk of his own for the tournament. Then, just to put it over the top, he decided to bleach it blonde.

If Brazil fails to win this tournament, I think we have now pinpointed the reason why.

Haters Rejoice! MLS Beef Weekend is Upon Us!

Helluva weekend to be an MLS fan. Not only do we get the O.G. MLS beef, NY v. D.C., on Saturday night but we get the latest installment of Gerald Ford-era footie fight Portland v. Seattle on Sunday afternoon. The only way this could have been scheduled any better would have been a Friday night fight between LA and Chivas USA. Oh well, we can’t have it all can we.

I may have my preferences for the outcome of each of these matches but I think one will be close and the other will be an ass-whipping. And before you assume it, I don’t think that it will be the Taurine Army doing the ass-whipping (they can’t play Toronto every week).

Demitrius Omphroy Drops Anthem for the Facebook Generation

Since he hasn?t seen much time on the field ?which is shocking because the way Toronto is playing right now you would think they?d be looking to try anything and anyone at this point? tattooed rookie winger/defender Demitrius Omprhoy is keeping busy in T.Dot with off-the-field pursuits. Pursuits such as dropping guest verses on pop music pearls aimed at 12 – 25 year-olds like the social media-meets-autotune pileup that is ?Facebook Chat.?

Surely some of y?all are going to howl once you hear this but bear in mind this is pop music…and pop music is for the children. You may think this is juvenile, which it is to a degree, but it?s supposed to be. So if you’re over the age of 25 and you don?t hate this song you are basically deep in the throws of a Wooderson-like quarter life-crisis.

Copa starts with a backheel boner, a Kun golazo and angry Messi

Once the dancing Tron people and creepy mascots got out of the way, Copa America kicked off with Argentina taking on Bolivia. And it didn’t exactly go according to plan for the hosts. Bolivia once again proved to be trouble for Argentina, scoring the first goal of the tournament in the 47th minute when Argentina’s Banega nudged Brazilian born Edivaldo Rojas Hermoza’s backheel just past the near post he was supposed to be protecting.

Argentina’s savior from yet another embarrassment came in the form of super sub Kun Aguero, who rocketed a volley into the top of the net in the 75th minute to salvage a 1-1 draw. At that point, Maradona probably jumped out of his chair and shouted, “Meh, he would’ve had three by now if I was still manager.”

And while all of this was happening, Lionel Messi played not with his usual grins and giggles, but with a scowl. An angry, man-on-fire type scowl that showed that he’s on a mission to win a trophy for Argentina and finally get everyone off his back about his form for the national team. It also said “I will beat you with a Lego sword if you come near me” — a mistake one Bolivian player made in the first half…

Lionel Messi getting pushy and going forehead to forehead with Ronald Raldes? Yes. This is serious business for Messi. He’s out for blood and trophies. And Lego playsets.

DTotD: Kid gets knocked down and a ball to the face

This comes from a camp that appears to just throw kids of all ages on the same pitch and tells them to go at it. When Carles Puyol with the long hair makes a run with the ball, Andre the Giant knocks him over. Just as Carles is about to protest the lack of a call, he takes an attempted clearance right to the side of the head.

This is how you teach kids to not complain about calls.

Martin Solveig ft. Kele: Ready 2 Go

There was a time when Kele Okereke and Bloc Party were it. Then they went on hiatus and Kele went solo and it all pretty much went to sh*t. Now he’s singing on songs for French people to use in the most French videos around not featuring Pepe Le Pew.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. But on the bright side we’ll always have “Helicopter.”
